Removal/fitting of Window Film Works

We will arrive on site, measure the windows, prepare & clean the windows. We will be bring a cutting machine, which in simple terms, is a 1.6m cello tape dispenser, that we mount onto some 5-6 tread ladders (similar to the below photo. Our Installer(s) are equipped with Window Film, Cutting Machine, a Tool Belt around their waist and a water. Our Window Film is wet applied using a fine water spray. Therefore we ask that you move anything from the surround area that you do not want to get ‘wet’. Every care is taken not for wet anything unnecessarily. Work for the removal of any existing window film will be peeled or scraped off the existing glazing. Once removed the glass will then be cleaned using a soapy solution of washing up liquid. The operative will wear gloves for any excess. The new film to be applied will be will not be treated with any substances, the paper covering to the rear of the film, cut to size, will be removed which will activate the adhesive side of the film. The film adhesive side will then be applied to the glazing and excess edges trimmed with a hand knife.
4. Control of Substances Substances Substances hazardous to health to be used during this operation will be minimal with just some diluted washing up liquid to form a mild cleaning solution for the glazing.
PPE in the form of gloves will be used as the main control to prevent skin contact for excess amounts. A COSHH assessment has been formulated for this low risk product.
Should it arise during the contract of works that any other substance will be required or be applicable the relevant health COSHH assessments will be formulated.
5. Manual Handling Manual handling risks for this contract of works are not avoidable, as the some of the materials will have to be manually handled but these are in manageable low weights, forms and sizes that can acceptably be manually handled such as the rolls of film, general waste film materials. Two persons will be used when available to avoid any person from manually handling excessive weights and to reduce the potential risk. Trades persons will be aware and instructed as to the correct handling techniques and the actions to take to minimise injury. The use of basic mechanical aids, such as a sack barrow, may also be used for excesses of materials. The use of multi person lifts will be the main other option. No tradesman will be allowed to lift any excessive weight. We do not handle or move glass.
6. Fire Safety / Emergency Procedures TECHFITUK employees will abide by the client premises Fire Procedures. The general works will be controlled to remove any major fire risks with the general measures will be ensured with no hot work processes taking place and removal of excess flammable items/debris.
7. Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E) Relevant P.P.E will be provided for employees as mentioned to meet the relevant B.S./E.N. Standard.
8. Welfare and Sanitary Conveniences The welfare facilities of the building/site will be utilised or nearby facilities if this is inconvenient.

All tradespersons will be briefed to use the facilities and to look after them.
9. Plant, Equipment and Tools Plant and equipment generally used will be minimal as described and will mainly be such as access equipment, ladders, stepladders, etc and other general light hand tools. TECHFITUK employees will abide by the client premises Fire Procedures. The general works will be controlled to remove any major fire risks with the general measures will be ensured with no hot work processes taking place and removal of excess flammable items/debris.

When preparing and cutting Window Film, we use a Film Handler aka Cutting Machine. This is a 60inch wide tape dispenser mounted onto the top of a set of 6 or 8 tread step ladders. We would prefer a set up area at least 2m x 2m floor space, clear to enable us to work safely around this machine. All bladed on the machine are guarded by metal fixings.

Any equipment used will be maintained and inspected.

If any other equipment may be needed this will be raised with the client. If such equipment may require to have appropriate Certificates/Records of Test, etc then these will be provided such as for electrical items.
